Due to the progressive nature of ALS, SLPs typically recommend/facilitate “voice banking” of the person’s natural speaking voice when possible. SLPs set up an eye gaze system (a form of AAC) that allows the user to generate messages using a high-tech computer system that is controlled by the eyes.
