SLPs do not diagnose dementia. However, SLPs can complete assessments to determine strengths or weaknesses of communication and cognition and subsequently design a treatment plan and/or compensatory aids. Plans may include maximizing communication skills, memory, ability to complete tasks in the right order, locate items, and decrease frustration.
